Beaumont Police Seize 1,300 Pounds of Cocaine Hidden in U-Haul Trailer
Routine Traffic Stop Leads to Major Drug Bust on Texas Highway
Beaumont police uncovered a massive drug shipment early Thursday morning, seizing nearly 1,300 pounds of cocaine during a traffic stop on a 15-passenger van towing a U-Haul trailer.
With the assistance of a K-9 unit, officers searched the trailer and discovered 12 black and yellow tote bags containing dozens of sealed cocaine packages.
Driver Arrested on Drug Charges
The driver, 43-year-old Kedra Parker of Florida, was arrested at the scene and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on drug possession and trafficking charges.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the street value of the seized narcotics, but the haul represents one of the largest cocaine seizures in the area to date.
Investigation Ongoing
The case remains under investigation as law enforcement works to determine the source and destination of the narcotics.
