McALLEN, TX — A quiet Tuesday evening took a dramatic turn in McAllen after a black SUV crashed into a fence and building near the intersection of Second Street and Hackberry Avenue around 5:30 p.m.. The force of the crash prompted a swift response from McAllen police, firefighters, and paramedics, as shocked onlookers gathered near the scene.
Video obtained from a nearby witness shows a tow truck hauling the damaged vehicle from private property, its front end crushed from the impact. Debris could be seen scattered across the sidewalk and lawn, with visible damage to both the perimeter fence and the building’s façade.
Authorities have not released the identity of the driver, nor their medical condition. It remains unclear whether the driver suffered a medical emergency, lost control of the vehicle, or was under the influence.
