Edinburg, TX – The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the murder of 67-year-old Jorge Luis Lopez, who was fatally shot in rural Edinburg on Tuesday night. Details of the Incident
Deputies were dispatched to the 8200 block of East Curry Road after receiving a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found Lopez lying face down in a driveway with multiple gunshot wounds. According to Lt. Enrique Longoria, a spokesperson for the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, Lopez was still alive when deputies arrived and was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Authorities are treating the case as a homicide and are continuing to investigate the scene. “This is an unusual event for this typically quiet area,” said Lt. Longoria. “We are asking for the public’s assistance. If anyone saw anything, please reach out.”
