MERCEDES, TX — A Mexican national identified as a member of the Partido Revolucionario Mexicano (PRM) gang, which is reportedly tied to the Gulf Cartel, was arrested last Tuesday in a joint operation led by U.S. Border Patrol, Mercedes Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
Authorities say the suspect confessed to being involved in human smuggling and drug distribution, both core operations of the notorious Gulf Cartel. He now faces deportation proceedings as federal agencies continue to investigate cartel activity in the Rio Grande Valley.
