New Federal Requirement Takes Effect Under Executive Order

Starting April 11, undocumented individuals residing in the United States will be required to register with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), according to an executive order issued by President Donald Trump titled “Protect the American People Against Invasion.”

Previously optional, the registration program is now mandatory and allows 30 days for compliance.

“There will be a process where people that are not documented in the United States will have to register with immigration. It is not an optional program. You have 30 days to do so,” explained an immigration attorney.

Who Must Register?

This mandate applies only to undocumented individuals. The following groups are exempt from the registration requirement:

• Legal permanent residents
• Individuals currently in immigration proceedings
• Visa holders

Registration Process and Requirements

Those required to register must complete:

• Form G-325A (Biographic Information)
• Biometric submission (fingerprinting and photo)
• Online registration at my.uscis.gov, which requires creating a user profile

The process demands detailed information, including:

• Personal history
• Addresses
• Employment background
• Any prior arrest records

After completing the registration and fingerprinting, individuals will be issued an immigration card, which they must carry at all times.

Penalties for Noncompliance

Authorities have emphasized the seriousness of the mandate.
