McAllen, TX – Juan Rios Gomez, the man responsible for smuggling four undocumented immigrants and leading Palmview Police Department (PD) on a high-speed chase, appeared in court today. Gomez has been charged with human smuggling, evading arrest with a vehicle, and evading arrest on foot. His bond was set at $55,000.

High-Speed Chase and Arrest

The chase began on Tuesday afternoon when Palmview PD officers attempted to pull Gomez over. However, he refused to stop, leading officers on a pursuit that ended at La Plaza Mall in McAllen. Authorities arrested four undocumented immigrants who had fled from the vehicle during the incident.

Gomez is currently being held in the Hidalgo County Jail.
