WESLACO, TX — A weekend party in rural Weslaco ended in tragedy when a 22-year-old man was shot and critically injured, prompting an urgent manhunt by the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office. The shooting occurred early Saturday morning, and eyewitness video shows the victim collapsing near his vehicle shortly after the gunfire erupted.
Authorities say the suspect—described as a Hispanic male—was last seen fleeing the scene in a red Mustang with a black bumper. The sheriff’s office has not yet released the victim’s name, but confirmed he remains hospitalized in critical condition.
“This neighborhood has always been peaceful,” one resident told reporters.
