McAllen, TX – McAllen native and professional swimmer Shaine Garza returned to the Rio Grande Valley this morning following his participation in the Paris Games. During an event at the McAllen Public Library, Garza spoke about his love for swimming, his journey to international competition, and how much he missed his high school days at McAllen High.

Reflecting on His Journey

Garza, who has achieved remarkable success in the world of professional swimming, took time to address the crowd and share his thoughts on how far he has come. “It’s not crazy to see yourself at a level this high because it is possible,” Garza said. “I’ve done it, and I’m sure people in the future will do it even more frequently now that somebody has put their name to it.”

Despite his success, Garza acknowledged the challenges he faced along the way. “It’s not easy. You know, I struggled a lot,” he added, expressing the perseverance required to reach his level of competition.
