In a bizarre turn of events, Cameron County Sheriff Deputies responded to a residence in La Feria, Texas, following multiple silent calls made to the Cameron County 911 Communications Center. The caller, identified as Rene Zuniga, reportedly called the emergency number on five occasions without speaking and had made similar silent calls in the preceding days.
The repeated misuse of the emergency services line led to the arrest of Mr. Rene Zuniga, who was subsequently transported to the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center. He is currently awaiting arraignment and has been charged with Silent or Abusive Call/Electronic Communication to 911 Service.
