MERCEDES, TX — The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley is extending a helping hand to residents across South Texas with a mobile produce distribution event happening today in Mercedes. Aimed at combating food insecurity and ensuring access to fresh produce, the event will run from 9 to 11 a.m. at 1202 North Vermont Avenue.
This community distribution is open to residents from any Valley city, not just Mercedes, and organizers are encouraging early arrival to ensure access to the food supply.
What You Need to Know
To participate in the event, attendees must bring:
- A valid photo ID
- Proof of address (such as a utility bill)
The Food Bank has also outlined key guidelines to ensure a smooth process:
- Only two families per vehicle are permitted
- Trunks must be cleared before arrival so volunteers can load produce quickly and efficiently
