The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has identified the man who was killed in a tragic crash in Rio Grande City. Michael Villanueva was a passenger in a GMC Sierra when the driver of the truck rear-ended a flatbed trailer yesterday afternoon.
Authorities report that the driver was distracted at the time of the crash. Sadly, Villanueva lost his life at the scene of the accident, while the driver was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
