South Texas Health System to Raise Suicide Prevention Awareness with ‘Chalk the Walk’ Event
Edinburg, TX – This Saturday, the South Texas Health System Behavioral division is hosting its third annual Chalk the Walk event to promote suicide prevention awareness and mental health resources in the community. The event will be held at the South Texas Mental Health Clinic in Edinburg from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Chalk the Walk: Spreading Hope and Inspiration
Attendees of Chalk the Walk are encouraged to participate by writing positive messages of hope on the sidewalks. These uplifting phrases, such as “You are not alone” and “Your mental health matters,” will be shared on social media to spread the message of support and to remind those struggling with suicidal thoughts that there is always help available.
“Our community is here for you. You have somebody that you can turn to no matter what you may be facing,” said an event spokesperson.
You’re Not Alone Fair
In addition to the sidewalk chalk messages, the You’re Not Alone Fair will feature local organizations providing valuable resources and support for individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Representatives will be on hand to discuss the various services available for those dealing with suicidal thoughts, offering attendees a chance to learn more about how to seek help.
