Armed Robberies Shake Edinburg in Early Morning Hours
Smoke Shop Targeted in First Robbery
Edinburg Police are investigating two armed robberies that occurred within an hour of each other early this morning.
The first incident took place around 12:50 a.m. at a smoke shop in the 3700 block of North Doolittle Road.
“Three suspects entered the establishment. They exited, then returned—two of them armed with what appeared to be handguns, and one with a knife,” police reported.
One suspect pointed a firearm directly at the store clerk, while the others grabbed cash from the register and merchandise before fleeing the scene.
Residents Concerned but Alert
Nearby residents expressed surprise, noting the area hadn’t experienced a robbery in years.
“Plus, you know, the fence from the back wasn’t there. They pushed the door. They took some fridges that I had outside,” one neighbor shared.
Local business owners credit fencing and surveillance systems with keeping the neighborhood relatively safe—until now.
Second Robbery Follows an Hour Later
At approximately 1:53 a.m., officers responded to a second robbery near the 1600 block of West McIntyre Street.
In that case, the victim was robbed of a gold chain and cash, and the suspect fled on foot. No injuries were reported, but the total value of stolen items remains unclear.
Ongoing Investigation and Public Safety Alert
Police have not confirmed whether the two incidents are related, but both remain active investigations.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Edinburg Police Department at 📞 956-289-7700.
Authorities remind residents to remain vigilant, check surveillance footage, and report suspicious activity immediately.
Stay tuned to Fox News for ongoing updates.
