Authorities Say 70-Year-Old Claimed He Was ‘Disciplining’ the Dog
A Donna man is behind bars after being arrested for animal abuse, according to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office.
Juan Pedro Becerra, 70, was taken into custody after a video emerged showing him hitting a dog. When questioned by authorities, Becerra reportedly claimed he was simply “disciplining” the pet.
No Visible Injuries, But New Evidence Leads to Arrest
Although the dog did not appear to have visible injuries at the time of the initial investigation, new evidence surfaced yesterday, prompting deputies to move forward with an arrest.
Becerra was booked into Hidalgo County Jail and is currently awaiting arraignment.

The case has raised concerns among local animal rights advocates, as authorities continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
