Study Reveals High Levels of Heavy Metals in Dog Food
A alarming new study by the nonprofit Clean Label Project has found that many dog food brands contain dangerously high levels of heavy metals and other contaminants. The research suggests that dog food may hold up to 13 times more heavy metals than typical human food. Experts have raised concerns about the implication of these findings, indicating a potential contribution to higher cancer rates in dogs.
Kibble, widely used among pet owners, emerged as the worst offender in the report. Although the study did not specify brands, it revealed that fresh and frozen dog foods typically contain less metal than dry varieties. With one in four dogs at risk of developing cancer in their lifetime, pet owners are advised to consult their veterinarians about the best dietary choices for their furry companions.
