CAMERON COUNTY – A Border Patrol chase ended in tragedy Friday afternoon, leaving one person dead and two others hospitalized.
According to Customs and Border Protection, agents attempted to stop a white truck on Highway 4 near Brownsville around 1 p.m. when the driver fled. The pursuit ended in a crash.
Authorities say one person was killed in the wreck. Two others were taken to a local hospital. The victim has not yet been publicly identified.
CBP reported that no agents were injured. The agency’s Office of Professional Responsibility is reviewing the incident, while the Texas Department of Public Safety is leading the investigation into the deadly crash.
