Low-Cost Vaccinations: Empowering Youth Health This May
This May, the cities of Pharr and San Juan are taking significant steps to enhance student health with a series of low-cost vaccination clinics. In collaboration with UTRGV Health, the local health services team is offering an array of mandatory vaccinations, including those for HIV, aimed at students aged 9 to 14. These clinics promise to deliver both free and low-cost options, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder access to essential healthcare.
Clinic Schedules and Locations
The vaccination drive will be held at strategic locations throughout the month of May, providing parents with ample opportunities to safeguard their children’s health. On May 13th and 15th, the PSJA Health Services Department at 1229 South Veterans Boulevard in Pharr will host the clinics from 5 to 7:30 PM. Stephen F. Austin Middle School at 804 South Stewart Street in San Juan will open its doors to students on May 14th from 2:30 to 4:15 PM. Finally, on May 28th, the high school at 805 West Ridge Road in San Juan will conduct the vaccination event from 2:30 to 4:30 PM.
Community Impact and Parental Involvement
This initiative highlights a community-focused approach to public health, emphasizing the importance of early vaccination in preventing disease outbreaks. Parental consent is a prerequisite, ensuring that families are involved in health decisions and reinforcing the importance of vaccines. This initiative not only addresses immediate health needs but also fosters a culture of preventive care within these communities. These will be free or low-cost. Vaccinations will be offered to students ages 9 to 14 with parental consent, underlining their commitment to accessibility and community health.

Parents and guardians interested in participating are encouraged to reach out for more information or to confirm their child's eligibility.
