The Alton community is coming together to support the Mata family after their home on Ceniso Street was destroyed in an arson attack. The fire, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, left Jacqueline Mata, her husband, and their children without a place to stay.

Jacqueline recounted the terrifying moment when she heard an explosion and saw their trailer engulfed in flames. “I’m staying with a family member right now,” she shared, highlighting the immediate need for assistance for her family, especially her four children.

The family’s immediate needs include clothing for their children, with sizes listed for reference. Jacqueline emphasized the importance of community support during this challenging time.

The Hidalgo County Fire Marshal’s office confirmed that arson was the cause of the fire and that a suspect has been arrested. However, details of the investigation are still ongoing, leaving the family in limbo as they wait for answers.
