Brownsville Police Arrest Teen Suspect Accused of Trying to Run Over Officer
Suspect Located After Fleeing Vehicle Found Abandoned at Apartment Complex
An 18-year-old man is in custody after allegedly attempting to run over a police officer during a confrontation in a convenience store parking lot in Brownsville.
The incident occurred around 8:51 a.m. at a store located in the 600 block of East Morrison Road, where the suspect, now identified as Juan Diego Bujanos, fled the scene in a vehicle following the attempted assault.
Vehicle Found Abandoned, Suspect Tracked Down
Police later discovered the suspect’s abandoned vehicle at Bella Terra Apartments on the 3200 block of the Aleno Crossing.
Following an extensive search involving the Cameron County Sheriff's Office, Bujanos was arrested without further incident and is currently awaiting arraignment.
Charges Pending
Authorities have not yet confirmed the specific charges Bujanos will face, though attempting to strike a law enforcement officer with a vehicle typically carries serious felony penalties.
