Weslaco Police Department is currently investigating an auto-pedestrian accident that occurred this afternoon, leaving a 79-year-old man hospitalized. The incident took place at the intersection of the frontage road and Texas Boulevard.
According to police reports, the elderly man was run over and subsequently transported to a local hospital for medical treatment around 3 p.m. The extent of his injuries and his current condition have not been disclosed at this time.
Authorities have not yet revealed the identity of the man involved in the accident. However, they did confirm that an individual believed to be connected to the incident was detained shortly after the accident occurred. Interestingly, the detention was not for charges related to the auto-pedestrian accident. Further details regarding the nature of the detention have not been provided.
