One man is behind bars and another remains at large after a deadly assault in Mission over the weekend.
According to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, Juan Miguel Ibarra Armenta and another suspect, Maximiliano Flores, followed the victim, Castillo, in a Chevy HHR and attacked him with a wooden board.
Following the assault, Castillo was left injured on Minnesota Road, where he was struck by a blue Chevy Silverado traveling south. Authorities say the truck was not connected to the attack, but the driver did not stop to render aid.
Deputies later tracked down the HHR and discovered it was registered to Castillo’s wife. Investigators revealed that Armenta and the victim’s spouse — who had previously filed an assault report against Castillo — were in a relationship.
Armenta was arrested and charged with manslaughter, while Flores remains wanted. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office at (956) 668-8477.
