DONNA, TX — A local family is seeking support from the public after a devastating house fire destroyed their home on North Valverde Road. The incident occurred around 1:15 p.m., when firefighters arrived on scene to find thick smoke pouring from the residence.

Thankfully, no one was inside at the time. The mother, who is currently pregnant, was attending a doctor’s appointment when a neighbor called to alert her. She returned to the heartbreaking sight of her home in flames — a total loss for her and her four children.

Fire Chief Issues Safety Warning

Fire Chief David Simmons confirmed that emergency crews responded quickly but were unable to save the structure due to the intensity of the blaze. While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, Simmons took the opportunity to stress the importance of fire safety practices.

“We remind residents to use caution with outdoor burning and to make sure your homes are equipped with working smoke detectors,” Simmons said.

Donna Fire Department is continuing to evaluate potential causes, including electrical faults or accidental ignition sources. No foul play is suspected at this time.
