Starting tomorrow, both the old and new courthouses in Hidalgo County will be closed to the public for one week, as the county completes its transition into a new courthouse facility.
While in-person services will be temporarily suspended, court filings can still be submitted electronically, allowing legal processes to continue with minimal disruption.
New Courthouse to Fully Open March 31
Normal operations are expected to resume on Monday, March 31, when the new courthouse will be fully operational.
Officials say the closure allows time for:
- Relocating historic and sensitive legal documents
- Finalizing staff setup and system updates
- Ensuring security and functionality in the new facility
